Fears grow for missing sailor after search team find his boat

A TEAM searching for a missing sailor found his boat today.

Stornoway Coastguard said the hunt for experienced yachtsman Neil MacKenzie off the coast of Lochaber would continue.

Mr MacKenzie, from Aberdeen, was reported missing by his wife on Wednesday after he failed to return home from a solo sailing trip.

The last contact with the 59-year-old was on September 14.

His 30ft single mast yacht Solitaire was found anchored at a spot south of Arisaig today.

A Stornoway Coastguard spokesman said: "Someone might have seen him in the last week and, if so, we need to hear about those sightings."
