Fears for pensioner after cottage fire

INVESTIGATIONS were continuing yesterday into a fire which destroyed a cottage at Balfour, near Fettercairn in Kincardineshire as fears grew that the pensioner who lived there may have perished.

A spokesman for Grampian Police said: "Hillhead Cottage is believed to be the home of an elderly female. It is not known if anyone was within the cottage at the time of the fire.
