'Fearless' bid to fight crime

A NEW hotline and website aimed at encouraging youngsters to report crime has been launched in Edinburgh in the first move of its kind in Scotland.

The service, called "Fearless", has been set up as the youth brand of crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers.

It consists of the website, www.fearless.org, where young people can get information about crimes affecting them and pass on information anonymously. The Fearless phone number is 0800 555 111.

Kate Jackson, from Crimestoppers Scotland, said: "One of the key reasons for launching Crimestoppers for young people is to empower them to be 'fearless' in passing on information about crime anonymously, safe in the knowledge that their identity will never be revealed."
