Family to make strides for hospice in memory of Ian

THE family of Ian McKenzie are to walk the length of the Water of Leith to raise money for St Columba's Hospice.

Mr McKenzie died at the age of 63 at the hospice in September last year, four months after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Next month 12 members of his family will walk the 12.5-mile distance of the Water of Leith, from Balerno to the Shore in his memory.

On Sunday, May 8 the McKenzie family will be wearing T-shirts with Ian's picture on the front and back, sponsored by local IT company Techtonic and they will also be carrying buckets so that the people they meet along the way can contribute to the cause.

Patricia McKenzie, 61, said: "I don't think people know how much the hospice does for families.

"Ian loved it there, he really enjoyed going. He made a lot of friends there and one day he even came back with a bouquet of flowers for me."
