Family pay tribute to teenager killed in car crash

A MOTHER yesterday paid tribute to her teenage son, who was killed in a two-car crash at the weekend.

Mark Scott, 19, an engineering apprentice from Torphins, died at the scene of the crash on Royal Deeside late on Saturday night. He was a passenger in a Mini Cooper which was in collision with a Citron Saxo on the A980 Banchory to Torphins road, near the Raemoir House Hotel.

His mother, Dorothy-Anne Scott, said yesterday: "We, Mark's family, are heartbroken about the accident that took our boy. Mark was a very loved and loving young man to his family and many friends."

She added: "We are incredibly proud of all that Mark achieved in his life and all that he planned for his future. Mark was due to start an aeronautical engineering apprenticeship with Rolls Wood group and was proud and excited about that.

"Mark means the world to me as his mum, to his nannie, papa, Andy, his dad Brian and all his family. We are taking comfort from all the messages of love from people in the village where Mark was so well known and loved."

Tributes to the teenager have been also been posted on his Facebook and Bebo pages. One says: "Mark Scott was the greatest guy I ever knew, always had a smile and always making people laugh. RIP big man, you will never be forgotten."

Meanwhile, a pedestrian who was killed on Friday in an accident on the outskirts of Aberdeen was yesterday named by Grampian Police as Angus MacKenzie, 38, of Aberdeen.

Mr Mackenzie died when he was hit by a car as he tried to cross the Charleston flyover, near Cove, on the A956.

Sergeant Neil Morrison, of Grampian Police's road policing department, said: "Our inquiries are continuing and our thoughts and sympathy are with the family and friends of Mr MacKenzie at this difficult time."
