The boy, from the Prospecthill area of Glasgow, was staying at the caravan park with his family.

In a statement issued through Lothian and Borders Police, they said: "We would like to thank everyone who tried to help Liam in the minutes after the accident and for those who have provided support to us in the following hours and days.

"He was a very precious little boy, and we miss him very much."

Police appealed for information from anyone who witnessed the incident.

They are particularly keen to trace the driver of a white van that was seen travelling towards Longniddry at around the time of the collision.
