Family issue video message for missing Glasgow man Vincent Barr while police continue search

The family of a 54-year-old man from the Govan area who has now been missing for six weeks have issued an emotional message to help try and find him.

Known as Vinny or Bardo, the last sighting of Vincent Barr as around 9.10pm on Friday, September 18 when he was walking across the Tradeston footbridge, known locally as the 'squiggly' bridge, and then heading into the wider Tradeston area.His family has today released a statement through Police Scotland, which his niece delivered.In the message, Mr Barr’s niece commented that they are appealing to anyone who has any information as to where her uncle might be or if they have sighted a man of his description.

She said “It has now been 6 weeks since he was last seen and we are extremely worried about him.“As a family, we just want our Vincent back and would appeal to anyone who may have any knowledge of his whereabouts.“We know he was last seen heading away from the city centre towards the Tradeston area on Friday, 18 September around 9.10pm and we would urge people to think back to this day and if you may have seen Vincent.”

She added: “He was wearing a grey Nike hoodie, black jogging bottoms and grey training shoes. He is around 5ft 6in tall with a medium build. He has short light-brown hair and blue eyes and also walks with a slight limp that is quite distinctive.”

His niece commented that Mr Barr was known to move about from time to time in places such as Glasgow city centre, Saracen, Possil and the West End areas and urged anyone who lives or visits these areas often to keep an eye out for someone that may fit her uncle’s description.

Sending out a personal message to him, she said: “Vincent, if you can see this message, please get in contact as we want know that you are safe.“If there is anything that we can do please let us know and get in touch.“Gran is hospital and she just wants to know you are ok, we are worried every single day about you.“You haven’t done anything wrong and the police only want to know you are safe and well, as do we.“Please Vincent, get in touch.”Sergeant Bob Anderson from Helen Street Police Station said: “Extensive enquiries into where Vincent may be are currently ongoing.“If you have any information no matter how significant about where Vincent may be, or you have noticed anyone that fits Vincent’s description, please come forward.“Anyone with any information is asked to contact police by calling 101 and quoting incident number 1116 of Sunday, 20 September, 2020 or alternatively, call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
