Fake Facebook 'friend' is told of plot to kill her

A DIVORCEE who tried to dig up dirt on her former husband by posing as a teenager on Facebook allegedly uncovered a plot to have her killed.

David Voelkert, from South Bend, Indiana, is accused of confiding in "Jessica Studebaker" a plan to pay a gang member $10,000 (6,000) to shoot his former wife, Angela.

But the Facebook friend he thought was a 17-year-old schoolgirl was in fact his 29-year-old former spouse, who passed the messages to the authorities.

Last week, FBI agents arrested 38-year-old Voelkert and charged him with illegally installing a GPS device on his former wife's car to monitor her movements.

That charge was dismissed on Wednesday but the police investigation is ongoing.

Mrs Voelkert created the profile of "Jessica" last month using a picture of an unnamed teenage girl.

Having "friended" her former spouse, Mr Voelkert proceeded to send him messages in an apparent "honey trap" during an acrimonious custody battle.

It was then that Voelkert, a video and surveillance equipment salesman, allegedly began discussing his plans to have his former wife "taken care of" by "putting a cap in her ass", according to papers assembled by investigating officers.
