AN interfaith discussion on freedom and religion will take place next week at New College

Dr George Wilkes, Sister Isabel Smyth and Shaikh Ruzwan Muhammad will discuss "Freedom and Liberty in Judaism, Christianity and Islam". The event is on Tuesday at 7pm in Martin Hall.

Jam won't jar with charity

SOME of Edinburgh's best-known musicians are to come together to generate funds for a children's charity.

The Jam 'n' Jar charity event will take place on December 5 at the Minto Hotel, Newington. The concert is a valuable source of fundraising for Radio Forth's Cash for Kids appeal.

Feminist play parody aims for the heart

A HEART charity is to launch a parody of a popular feminist play to raise cardiac awareness.

The British Heart Foundation will beam its Angina Monologues at the Vue Cinemas in Ocean Terminal and the Omni Centre.

Hosted by comedienne Victoria Wood, the broadcast will tell women the risks of heart disease, how to avoid it and steps to take for improved cardiac health.

Widen your horizons, says entrepreneur

BUSINESSES in the Capital have been urged to explore international markets.

Rachel Jones, founder of Edinburgh-based Totseat, made the call when she spoke at this week's Bank of Scotland business event at Hibs football stadium.

Ms Jones said: "Around 60 per cent of our sales are to international customers, and this side of the business is one that has given us a great platform for growth since the company was founded five years ago."

Harley set to rev up raffle at the Rat Pack

REVELLERS at the city's Rat Pack Piano Bar are being invited to enter a competition to win a Harley Davidson motorbike. The 15,000 V-Rod will be enclosed in a glass box which will be filled with raffle tickets until it reaches the top.

Nicole Feasby, bar manager, said: "Harleys are world-famous so we thought it would be a great prize to offer in a bar with a name that is also known around the world.

"It'll be interesting to see who will be driving the bike home - not after a night out in the bar, though."

Pupil has brush with success

AN Edinburgh pupil is to be commended for her watercolour art work after winning the Pentland Inspirations Art and Photographic competition.

Jemma Brunton, 15, a pupil at Forrester High School, will receive a certificate at the City Chambers on Tuesday.
