Fabrication firm Isleburn to build base

HUNDREDS of jobs are to be saved after a fabrication firm unveiled plans to build a new multimillion pound base.

Isleburn, of Evanton, Easter Ross, plans to build a shop for the assembly and loading of large structures to replace its facility at Nigg, which it has to leave.

Landlord KBR, a US engineering and construction firm, is considering converting the Nigg yard to build foundations for wind turbines.

Neil MacArthur, Isleburn's operations director, said: "This has been a huge decision for the company, as it is an investment of several million pounds at a time of a downturn in the marketplace."
