Extradited man on car death charge

AN ITALIAN who was extradited to Scotland to face a charge of causing the death of a woman in a car crash. has been remanded in custody.

Andres Mancioppi, 30, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.

He had been due to appear at the High Court in Dundee on October 26 last year accused of causing the death of Linda Lindsay a year earlier but he failed to show and was arrested in Italy on an extradition order.

Mrs Lindsay died after a collision on the A9 on 8 September, 2008. Two other people were injured in the head-on crash between a Honda Jazz and a Vauxhall Vectra two miles south of Kingussie, at Nuide straight.

Mrs Lindsay, 63, a passenger in the Honda had to be cut free by firefighters.

She was declared dead at the scene.
