Extra time for disabled airport parks

DISABLED passengers are to be given double the waiting time at the drop-off and short stay parking facilities at Edinburgh Airport.

The move follows a recommendation from the Mobility and Access Committee Scotland (Macs), which was invited by the airport to help it improve the accessibility of terminal facilities.

From 1 April, disabled passengers using the drop-off zone and the short stay car park will have 30 minutes’ free time rather than the standard 15 minutes.

Other improvements, such as updated signage, changes to the website and bringing disabled parking spaces closer to the terminal are also being made following consultation with Macs.

Macs convener Anne MacLean said: “This package of improvements is great news and will benefit all travellers.”

Gordon Robertson, head of communications at Edinburgh Airport, said: ”It’s important that our disabled passengers can use our facilities unhurriedly.”
