Police Scotland said damage and violence on Scotland’s streets will not be tolerated as the force prepares for a spike in emergency calls associated with the time of year.
It said extra resources will be available to all areas should they require them.

“Members of the public saw their vehicles and other items of property destroyed and emergency service personnel were the victims of attacks that put their safety and well-being at serious risk.
“To prevent similar incidents arising this year, a range of specialist police resources have been earmarked to provide additional capabilities to local policing teams throughout the country.”
A police officer in Edinburgh was treated for burns after being injured by a firework on Bonfire night last year, when emergency crews attended disturbances in Muirhouse and Craigentinny.
