Explosion in mine kills six, traps 46

A METHANE gas explosion in a coal mine in south-western Pakistan killed at least six miners yesterday and trapped 46, a mining official said.

The mine in Baluchistan province was declared dangerous two weeks ago, but the warning was ignored, said Iftikhar Ahmed. Rescue workers were last night trying to reached those trapped.
