Exhibition to celebrate arts trust revamp

COMMUNITY arts trust Out of the Blue is to celebrate the completion of a £750,000 renovation at its base, the Old Drill Hall in Dalmeny Street.

The hall has undergone a seven-year conversion from its former military use into a multi-purpose arts centre.

The latest nine-month phase of the renovation has created studio space for a further 30 artists, a new music practice room, garden, and cafe kitchen.

To celebrate the completion of the new facilities the trust is to hold an exhibition of work by resident artists from 28 May-10 June.

There will also be a special "open studio" event on 28 and 29 May.

The trust was launched in 1994 and moved to the Drill Hall in 2003. As well as offering studio space to artists, it hosts classes for members of the community, regular performances and a quarterly art market.

Out of the Blue co-ordinator Rob Hoon said:

"The new facilities will give us the opportunity to make more of an impact for a greater number of people across the city and beyond."
