Ex-Pc wins injury case

A FORMER constable with Lothian and Borders Police, whose thumb was injured in a struggle with a "large and heavy woman" has been awarded £1000 in a civil action.

Catherine Grahame was 25 when she joined the force in April 1996. She retired on medical grounds in August 2001. In September 1999, she was involved in a struggle with a woman, described as over 20 stone. The civil action against the Chief Constable was for damages and loss of earnings.
