The 30-year old footballer from Longniddry in East Lothian made a brief appearance in Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

It is alleged that he was found to be in possession of the drug in Leith Walk, Edinburgh, on December 2 last year and that he gave an incorrect address to police officers.

Defence solicitor, Kim Schofield, tendered a plea of not guilty to both charges on behalf of O’Connor and said the defence were ready for trial. That was supposed to take place on July 3, but she said The Crown were seeking an adjournment and that was not opposed.

Fiscal Depute, Gerard Drugan, said the forensic report on the alleged drug had not yet been received.

There will be a further hearing in September with the trial towards the end of October.

O’Connor was arrested on the Sunday night following Hibs 1-0 win over city rivals Hearts at Easter Road in a Scottish Cup tie.
