Ex-fireman jailed for dog attack

A RETIRED Los Angeles County assistant fire chief has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for using a rock to beat a puppy so severely it had to be put down.

Glynn Johnson apologised, claiming he was freeing himself after being bitten. He must also perform 400 hours of community service with dogs and repay the owners' vet bills.
