Ewan Williamson petition

THE Evening News is calling for courageous firefighter Ewan Williamson to be honoured with a medal from the Queen.

The 35-year-old died while fighting a fire in a city pub, becoming the first Lothian firefighter in living memory to die while tackling a blaze.

The campaign to have his bravery officially recognised by being posthumously awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal has already been backed by his friends and colleagues and local politicians.
