Trump is blowing against the wind over turbines

DONALD Trump is struggling to secure public support for his opposition to the “eyesore” offshore wind farm, which he says threatens his £750 million golf resort development.

Earlier this year, the American tycoon warned First Minister Alex Salmond that the £60m he had already spent building the “world’s greatest golf course” in Aberdeenshire was being jeopardised by plans for a giant offshore wind farm, which is planned less than two miles from his championship links at the Menie estate.

A report to Aberdeenshire councillors has revealed that the 11-turbine development has attracted 406 letters of support and only 14 letters of objection.

Marine Scotland, the planning authority that will make the final decision on the wind farm, is currently consulting on the plans.
