First Minister Alex Salmond discussed the company’s plans for expansion in Norway with GPS managing director Gavin Macdonald.

The First Minister, on a short visit to Norway, will announce an oil and gas strategy later this month, which aims to increase the international reach that Scottish firms had.

Mr Salmond said: “Global is a perfect example of a company leading the way in that export endeavour.”

He said: “The Global Energy Group and its subsidiaries are a fantastic Scottish success story, creating jobs and prosperity in Scotland while exporting its expertise and working with leading multinationals to help deliver major engineering projects around the world.”
