Nearly 1,500 staff at bus company Stagecoach to cycle to work under new scheme

NEARLY 1,500 staff at Perth-based transport giant Stagecoach are cycling to work under a new company scheme to boost their health.

The firm has provided £1 million of new bikes under a flexible pay and benefits system.

Stagecoach, which runs bus services in Scotland as well as buses and trains in England, said the take-up rate had been similar on either side of the Border.

It said it had also installed bike racks, lockers and showers at bus depots for cyclists.

Stagecoach UK Bus Managing Director Les Warneford said: “This scheme is a great opportunity for our staff to use a greener, and healthier form of transport to and from work as well as in their spare time.”

The firm employs 35,000 people in the UK, United States and Canada.
