Festive bin collection arrangements 2018/2019

East renfrewshire Council has announced changes to its bin collections over the festive period.

Blue bins:

Blue paper bin collections will take place as normal except for Tuesday, December 25.The council will collect paper bins due for collection this day on Wednesday, December 26. If your blue bin is full, you can take excess recycling to our Household Waste and Recycling Centres at:

Barrhead Recycling Centre, Carlibar Road, Barrhead G78 1AA.

Greenhags Recycling Centre, Ayr Road, Newton Mearns G77 6RY.

Grey bins:

Grey refuse bin collections will take place as normal except for Tuesday, January 1. Grey bins due for collection this day will be collected on Wednesday, January 2. If necessary there will also be a collection on Saturday, January 5. The council will make all grey bin collections by this date at the latest.

Brown bins:

There will be no brown bin collections week beginning Monday, December 24. These collections will resume on Monday, December 31.

The council’s priority this week is to ensure that all grey general waste is collected. It will also attempt to collect all brown bins presented.

Christmas trees will be collected week beginning Monday, January 7. You can also leave Christmas trees at the side of your brown bin.

Barrhead Recycling Centre remains closed on December 25 and 26 and 1 and 2 January. Normal operating hours of 8am-5:30pm will apply at all other times. Restrictions remain in place for vans at Barrhead during this time. Residents are asked to visit Greenhags if they wish to bring a van

Greenhags remains closed on December 25 and January 1. Normal operating hours of 8am-5:30 will be in place all other days.

Special uplift service will resume on Wednesday, January 9. The Customer First team will resume taking bookings from Thursday, January 3.
