Employees hold key to cutting CO2 emissions

EMPLOYEES could save their companies £40 million on energy bills each year, according to a new analysis by the Carbon Trust.

The organisation worked out that by taking simple measures such as cutting energy use, paper use and travel, staff could save 164,831 tonnes of carbon dioxide – more than the monthly emissions of all the households in Glasgow.

The Carbon Trust is calling on people to consider travelling to work by public transport or using a carpool, printing double-sided and teleconferencing rather than travelling.

Richard Rugg, director of Carbon Trust Programmes, said: “Employees are a critical ally in cutting energy waste. Get them onboard and [see] lower bills and reducing carbon emissions.”
