Edinburgh Zoo baboon celebrates Father’s Day
Edinburgh Zoo’s dominant male gelada baboon receives a special Father’s Day treat after fathering an impressive 17 youngsters in only five years.
Malachi, who lives in Edinburgh Zoo, fathered his youngest baby just six months ago. Malachi arrived at the zoo from Colchester in 2008 and has had little trouble attracting female attention. Donald Gow,
Senior Keeper for Primates and Hoofstock for Edinburgh Zoo, said: “Malachi is certainly one of the zoo’s most prolific fathers since his arrival in 2008 and so we are helping him celebrate Father’s Day with a special scatter feed of his favourite food.”
