Edinburgh streets among most polluted

TWO roads in Edinburgh have made a list of the top ten most polluted streets in Scotland.

St John’s Road in Corstorphine and Queensferry Road, which stretches from Davidson’s Mains to Cramond Bridge, finished fourth and eighth in the list respectively.

The information was collected by Friends of the Earth Scotland, with both locations failing to meet the UK standard of 40 micrograms per cubic metre of nitrogen dioxide.

Hope St in central Glasgow returned the worst reading.

Up to 3000 people are estimated to die every year from air pollution in Scotland.
