CLS bid for coast control

SOME of the assets of the Crown Estate should be taken over by community landowners to ensure local benefits.

Community Land Scotland (CLS), the body representing community landowners, wants radical reform of the Crown Estate functions in Scotland to make it more accountable to ministers and the parliament. CLS puts forward its proposals today in a submission to both the Scottish Affairs Committee of the UK Parliament and the Scotland Bill Committee of the Scottish Parliament.

The biggest change it wants is for community landowners to take over harbours and inshore fish farms and renewables projects.
