Bird welfare given boost worth £14m

THE health and welfare of poultry – a key factor in the multi-billion pound food industry – is to be boosted by a £14 million investment in research.

Work has started on the National Avian Research Facility at the University of Edinburgh’s Easter Bush campus. Researchers will study issues such as the spread of infection.
