Emotional farewell to 'big-hearted' teenager, 17, who was found burned in a field

A TEENAGER whose burned body was found in a field was laid to rest yesterday.

The remains of former Clyde Valley High pupil Zoe Nelson, 17, were found in Branchalfield Drive, Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, on 23 May.

More than 200 people packed Coltness Memorial Church in Newmains for the funeral of a girl described as "big hearted", who was a keen Rangers fan and studied panel-beating at Motherwell College..

Her mother, Marieann Nelson, and sisters, Ashley and Laurann, as well as her grandmother Annette Nelson were among mourners, some wearing T-shirts with "RIP Zoe" on them.

Reverend Graham Raeburn told mourners: "Zoe Nelson touched the lives of so many. She was a typical teenager… always with a smile on her face.

"Zoe had a big heart, and would go out of her way to help support her friends."

A man has appeared in court charged with Zoe's death.
