Embezzler gets two years for £12k swindle

A REPEAT swindler has been jailed for two years for embezzling £12,000 from an Edinburgh business.

Fiscal depute Dev Kapadia told Edinburgh Sheriff Court that John Docherty, 55, was employed as the financial controller at Jupiter Play and Leisure Ltd from March last year.

Mr Kapadia said it was while Docherty was off sick that discrepancies were noticed. Two separate suppliers informed the company that it had paid money into the wrong account. It was discovered the cash was going to Docherty's account.

Docherty, of Linnet Way, Dunfermline, who is already serving a three-year jail term for a similar crime admitted carrying out the embezzlement last year.
