Elizabeth Taylor laid to rest near Michael Jackson at small family funeral

Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor, right, was given a small private funeral service in Los Angeles, the day after she died of congestive heart failure.

The Oscar-winning actress, 79, was laid to rest at the Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, the same place where her close friend, singer Michael Jackson, was buried in 2009.

Police told media waiting outside the cemetery that the service was for family only, with about three dozen people attending.

Taylor, who married eight times, is survived by four children, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Forest Lawn is the burial place of many Hollywood superstars, including Clark Gable, Jean Harlow and Walt Disney.

Broadway will honour Taylor by dimming its lights tonight, the Broadway League, the national trade association, said.
