Elderly woman dies in hospital two weeks after Perthshire car crash

A TWO-car collision at a Perthshire accident blackspot has claimed a second victim.

Tayside Police have confirmed that one of the two elderly pensioners injured in a fatal crash at the Tibbermore junction on the Perth to Madderty road on Friday, 28 September, has died in Dundee’s Ninewells Hospital.

She has been named as Elizabeth Southwood, 83, of Oakbank Road, Perth

Ms Southwood who was a passenger in one of the two cars which collided on the unclassified road.

An 82-year-old woman who was also a passenger in the same car remains in a stable condition at Ninewells.

The third passenger in the car who died in the collision has been named as Rhoda Lawton, 78, of Viewlands Road, Perth.

The 24-year-old woman driver of the second car involved in the collision was taken to Perth Royal Infirmary suffering from shock. Her passengers – two one-year-old girls and a three-year-old boy - were uninjured.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said: “A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
