Elderly woman dies after being hit by lorry in Inverness

An ELDERLY woman has died after being hit by a lorry in Inverness.

It is believed she was crossing the road at the Ross Avenue and Fairfield Road junction in the city when she was hit just before 10am today.

Police said the woman died at the scene.

Northern Constabulary road policing officers are investigating at the scene.

The road is closed with local diversions in place.
