EIS urges teachers to vote for new deal

The Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) today launched a new ballot for teachers to have their say on a revised pay and conditions offer from their employers.

The EIS is encouraging teachers to vote "Yes" to the revised proposals to protect teachers' jobs and maintain nationally negotiated pay and conditions. The ballot runs for a four-week period to ensure all eligible teachers have the chance to vote.

EIS General Secretary Ronnie Smith said: "The opening of this new ballot will ensure that all teachers can have their say.

"The EIS Salaries Committee, comprised of teachers from all all parts of Scotland, is recommending that colleagues should accept the revised offer."
