EIF chief calls for all-night Glasgow trains

THE head of the Edinburgh International Festival has called for an all night rail service between Edinburgh and Glasgow during major events.

Jonathan Mills believes the move would allow important events like the EIF and the Fringe, as well as the Commonwealth Games, to "reverberate" through the country's two major cities, it was reported today.

Just one extra service has been laid on to accommodate revellers attending Edinburgh's flagship festivals in recent years, leaving the Capital at midnight on weekdays and at 12:30am on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

However, a spokesman for Network Rail said it would be "impossible" to run services through the night.
