Egypt's tourism industry collapses

The number of tourists visiting Egypt slumped 46 per cent in the first quarter of this year as mass protests brought the fall of President Hosni Mubarak, the government said yesterday.

The unrest that began on 25 January prompted many tour groups to cancel trips, throwing an industry that is a major source of foreign currency into crisis.
