Egyptian visit forges link in engineer training bid

A GROUP of Egyptians visited West Lothian College to discuss a joint partnership that will see Scottish students working in Cairo.

The joint project aims to develop a qualification in engineering between West Lothian College and the Staff Training Institute in Cairo.

The project, which will see the first students enrol this autumn in Cairo and graduate in the summer of 2012, will promote English as an international language of business, reflecting how often the language is used worldwide by engineers.

West Lothian College aims to benefit from the project by drawing on the experience of its Egyptian colleagues to introduce additional short courses.

Colin Miller, head of the skills centre for West Lothian College, said: "We are very pleased to be part of this collaboration.

"Skills and employability are high on our agenda and the project will make a valuable contribution to this.
