Edinburgh’s Got Talent: Tickets now on sale

Tickets for the Capital’s annual search for a star go on sale today at the Festival Theatre. The show takes place on Friday, November 1.

The Evening News, in association with Forth One, will once again be calling for acts of all ages to show off their skills, whether as singers, dancers, bands, choirs, magicians or comedians, to enter our competition, now in its fifth year.

The winner bags a cool £1000 cash and the chance to perform at the Radio Forth Awards at the Usher Hall.

Last year, the top prize was taken by Musselburgh  youngster Rebecca Traynor, who wowed the audience with a faultless rendition of Bring Me To Life.

Head judge Liam Rudden, the Evening News Entertainment Editor, said: “Edinburgh’s Got Talent h as become a highlight of the year for many of our readers, whether through taking part, supporting the acts, or just enjoying the grand final itself. And 2013 is going to be the biggest and best showcase of local talent yet.

“Over the years we have discovered some amazing performers in the Capital, and we know there are many more still to be discovered. It doesn’t matter if you’re 19 or 90, if you can sing, dance, juggle, do magic, tell jokes, or have some other unusual talent that you think the public would like to see, then enter – you could end up on the stage of the Festival Theatre come November.”

There’s plenty of time to polish up your act, with the hunt for entries starting in August.

The show will be hosted once again by Forth One’s Arlene Stuart, with Boogie of Forth One’s Breakfast Show, Deborah Welsh of The Evening News, and Richie Jeffrey, also from Forth judging.

Deborah Welsh, producer of the live show, said: “I’m always astounded by the standard of entries we get. It’s a tough gig whittling them down.”

She added “I’d love to see some older acts enter this year. I’d love to find a plumber or a binman who has the voice of Andrea Bocelli. Or another Subo would be nice”
