Edinburgh one of the 'most reputable' cities in the world

Edinburgh has been ranked as one of the top ten 'most reputable' cities in the world ahead of the likes of Paris, London and New York, according to a new survey.

The capital was the sole UK representative in the top 20, ranking sixth overall in a poll carried out by the Reputation Institute.

The “CityRepTrak” report measures public levels of “trust, esteem, admiration and respect,” according to over 20,000 people who participated in an online survey carried out in France, Germany, the UK, Italy, Canada, Japan, the US and Russia in August and September.

Edinburgh narrowly missed out on the top five, scoring 78.9 on the index, but placed ahead of Montreal, Rome, Vancouver and Copenhagen in the top ten.

Sydney took top spot, scoring 81.8 out of a 100, with Vienna, Zurich, Toronto and Stockholm rounding off the top five.

Dublin came 20th on the list, while London was two places lower in 22nd. Manchester was the only other UK city ranked, placing 33rd.
