A 6ft replica of the Royal Yacht Britannia, a mini Balmoral Hotel and the National Monument on Calton Hill were among the 50 sites which combined to form a giant edible map of the Capital.

More than 50 teams made up of volunteers, professional and amateur bakers, and community groups spent weeks planning and designing their creations.

Crowds admired the elaborate Cake Fest display on the lawn of Inverleith House yesterday – before getting the chance to try a slice.
