Edinburgh Fawkes-y ladies raise over £100,000 for children

A LUNCH for ladies held in aid of Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) - and hosted by Scots singer Michelle McManus - has raised an astonishing £104,000.

The charity has extended a huge thank you to everyone that attended its Fawkes-y Ladies Lunch at Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh.

The generosity of guests raised a grand total of £104,000 - more money raised than ever before at the Edinburgh Ladies Lunch.

Michelle McManus hosted the seventh annual event which included a three-course meal, live music, fundraising games and a silent auction, which included prizes such as a Jack Vettriano Limited Edition signed print of ‘Black on Blonde’, a brand new Maserati for the weekend and a six day trip to Rovaniemi in the Arctic Circle.

The ladies of Edinburgh were dressed to impress and with fizz flowing, the afternoon’s entertainment, The Jersey Notes, had the ladies singing along and dancing on tables.

Former Scotland Rugby Player Andy Nicol took on the role of auctioneer, while speaker Jordan Buchanan, who’s younger sister Emma visited Robin House for almost four years was hailed as the highlight of the day.

Jordan shared an inspirational speech about her journey with CHAS. Organisers said he left not a dry eye in the house and reminded everyone why they were there.

Diane Alton, events co-ordinator at CHAS, said: “Edinburgh folk are notoriously fantastic supporters of CHAS and always get fully behind our fundraising efforts.

“We’re so grateful for their generosity and without them, we could not raise the vital funds needed to provide these hospice services which children and families across Scotland rely on.

“CHAS is the only national hospice in Scotland that provides support and care for babies, children and young people with life shortening conditions and the money raised at the event will go towards its two children’s hospices, Robin House in Balloch and Rachel House in Kinross, and to its CHAS at Home services.”

Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) is the only charity that provides hospice services in Scotland for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

They provide care through two hospices and also through CHAS at Home which has teams working from both hospices as well as dedicated teams in Aberdeen and Inverness, caring for families in their wn homes when they need it most.

They support over 400 families, as well as a significant number of families who receive bereavement support.
