Edinburgh Airport pledge on drop-off charge

EDINBURGH Airport has announced a U-turn over including disabled passengers in its £1 drop-off charge plans, following pressure to let blue badge holders use the new area beside the terminal free.

They faced being charged for the new "fast track" zone in the multi-storey car park from October.

The area will be covered and better lit than the adjacent short-stay car park which blue badge holders use free for drop-offs.

Airport managing director Kevin Brown said: "I've asked my team to look at how we can ensure free access to the new drop-off area close to the terminal free of charge."

Lothians Conservative MSP Gavin Brown, who is campaigning against the charge, said: "Anything that makes life easier for passengers is to be welcomed."
