Economy unit cuts its cloth

A KEY department at East Lothian Council is moving home to help the local authority tighten its belt.

The economic development team will relocate from its current building at Carlyle House, Haddington, into the council's HQ at John Muir House, just around the corner.

The council's economic development spokesman, Councillor Stuart MacKinnon, said: "In these economically frugal times, the council is reorganising its office space and selling buildings that are no longer required.

"However, the economic development team will still offer a valuable range of services from their new home in John Muir House."
