Eco-friendly school flies its third flag

CORNBANK St James Primary School has become the first Midlothian school to achieve a third Green Eco-Schools Flag.

Pupils, parents and staff at the school have been congratulated after the school was awarded the honour under the Eco-Schools programme.

All Midlothian schools are taking part in the Eco Schools scheme and Cornbank Primary is the first to reach the significant milestone.

Eco-Schools is an international initiative designed to encourage whole-school action for the environment.

Councillor Peter Boyes, cabinet member for education, said: "The achievement is richly deserved."
