Easter break shelved for DIY

MORE people will carry out DIY or gardening work this Easter than have a break away from home, according to a poll.

The average person is planning to spend 15 hours this Easter doing a mixture of DIY, gardening and decorating jobs around the home, the survey for B&Q found.

Questioned on the top activities over the long weekend, 36 per cent said they planned to relax and 34 per cent would visit family, followed by 33 per cent working in the garden and 24 per cent starting a DIY job.

Another 24 per cent would take a day trip to the beach or park.

The poll also found that 79 per cent of all seeds sold at B&Q so far this year are for vegetables – the highest ratio ever.
