Earl of Caithness marries American businesswoman

THE Earl of Caithness, whose first wife committed suicide on the eve of their wedding anniversary, has married a wealthy American businesswoman.

Ten years after the death of his first wife, Diana, Malcolm Sinclair, the 20th Earl of Caithness, tied the knot with Leila Jenkins, a banker and economist from Rhode Island.

Diana Sinclair shot herself on the eve of the couple’s 19th anniversary while the Earl played cards with the couple’s 15-year-old daughter in the drawing room of their Oxfordshire home.

The low-key wedding at Rosslyn Chapel near Edinburgh last week was the culmination of a 15-month courtship between the 56-year-old Tory peer and his new bride.

The couple were introduced by mutual friends at Ascot last year.

The Earl’s children, Iona and 24-year-old Alexander Berringdale, are said to approve of the match.
