E-fit issued in hunt for Edinburgh Meadows rapist

POLICE have released an e-fit image of a man wanted in connection with the rape of a 19-year-old woman.

Police have released an e-fit image of a man wanted in connection with the rape of a 19-year-old woman.

The victim was walking through the Meadows in Edinburgh on Saturday morning when she was knocked to the ground and attacked.

The assault happened at around 7am as she returned from a night out.

Police said they want to speak to a medium-built man aged between 20 and 30 who wore a black beanie-style hat, dark trousers and a black tracksuit top.

They said the new e-fit image is a “very good likeness” of the man they want to trace.

Detective Chief Inspector Alwyn Bell said: “This was a dreadful experience for the victim. It is essential we trace this man as soon as possible.

“I am appealing for anyone who recognises the description or e-fit picture of the man to call Police Scotland on 101 or provide the information anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 as soon as possible.”
