DVLA staff go on strike

STAFF at dozens of Driving and Vehicle Licensing Agency offices were staging a 24-hour strike today in a dispute over closures and job losses.

The Public and Commercial Services union said Edinburgh’s DVLA office is among those under threat.

The union has delivered a 72,000-name petition to the Department for Transport, opposing the closures, which it says will cost 1000 jobs and signal the end of a face-to-face service to motorists.
