Duo rescued after fishing boat capsizes

Two men were plucked to safety from the water by a passing boat after their vessel capsized today.

The pair were fishing for crabs with creels just off Cairnbulg point near Fraserburgh in Aberdeenshire when their small boat overturned at around midday.

Crew onboard a local fishing boat which was in the area saw what happened and rescued the two men.

They took the pair back to Cairnbulg harbour while the Fraserburgh RNLI lifeboat towed the capsized boat to land.

The two men, who were not wearing lifejackets, were in the water for around ten minutes and were not injured.

Aberdeen Coastguard said the pair were "remarkably lucky" to be unharmed because they were not wearing the safety equipment.
