Duke names new lifeboat

The Duke of Edinburgh has named Queensferry RNLI station's new high-speed lifeboat after the Perth jeweller who donated the money for it, at a ceremony at Dundas Castle.

The 180,000 "Jimmie Cairncross" boat uses the latest equipment to ensure that casualties can be located more quickly than ever.

Local MP Mike Crockart said he was delighted for the station and praised the generosity of the late Mr Cairncross for his donation.
